BIOFerm™ Energy Systems, Inc. is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer. BIOFerm™ is a Wisconsin-based renewable energy company providing turnkey anaerobic digestion and gas upgrading facilities in North America.  Committed to sustainable and economical organic waste diversion, BIOFerm™’s digester technology harnesses biogas from fermenting organics—food waste, manure, biosolids, etc.—and converts it into valuable green energy, vehicle fuel, heat and organic products. Its modular Carbotech Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) gas upgrading systems enable North American biogas producers to profitably upgrade biogas to natural gas (RNG).

BIOFerm™ is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for developing, designing and permitting gas upgrading solutions that will deliver the long-term profit requirements of each project.  The engineer will supervise mechanical and electrical design and make sure projects meet or exceed agreed to revenues, margins, and returns.

Essential Job Functions

  • Engineering for electrical switchgear/ MCC in low and medium voltage

  • Engineering for automation and instrumentation

  • Preparation of technical specifications for delivery of switch gear and electrical installations

  • Construction supervision and acceptance of sub-supplied equipment (e.g. switch gear) and services

  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation or presentations

  • Solicit and review bids, and purchase electrical and controls equipment for projects.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as may be required

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering field

  • EIT or PE is a plus

  • Intermediate programming skills/aptitude

  • Knowledge of electrical equipment in hazardous areas

  • Knowledge of functional safety for electrical equipment (UL,CSA, TUV, SIL, safety integration level)

  • Experience with power electronics

  • Experience with blowers, variable frequency drives, industrial motors, etc.

  • Industry experience in ethanol, chemical plants, biomass, wastewater, etc.

  • Experience with sensors, pneumatic controls, PLCs and PIOs

  • Hands-on experience with electric equipment and tools to perform assembly, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial plant systems and software

  • Experience with Visual basic, a plus

  • Autodesk AutoCAD or equivalent experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access

  • Basic single line design

  • Self-starter, results oriented, and able to multi-task

  • Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills

  • Willingness to travel and valid US passport required
