FT Project Assistant

BIOFerm™ Energy Systems is looking for a full-time Project Assistant to provide administrative and logistic support to the project management team.  This is an entry level position.

Desired Qualifications

•         Bachelor or Associates degree, certificate or diploma in a technical field,  or sufficient experience as a project assistant

•         Familiarity with construction and engineering (civil, mechanical and electrical) terminology and processes

•         Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point including the ability to learn new software as required

•         Systematic approach to ensure timely completion of all tasks

•         Ability to readily convert objectives into activities and deliverables

•         Excellent verbal communication and writing skills

•         Attention to detail

•         Excellent organizational skills

•         Valid drivers license

Duties and Responsibilities

•         Assist construction manager and engineer throughout the design, planning and construction phase of a project

•         Prepare, process, and track:

-Various communications documents
-Contact/phone lists
-Monthly project reports
-Change orders
-Requests for information
-Operation manuals
-Other project related documents
-Meeting minutes
-Action item lists
-Filing and archiving of project documents – both paper and electronic
-Expediting and coordinating information submitted or required by trades and suppliers

•         Identify, address and resolve project administration issues and problems as or before they occur

•         Keep accurate log of project finances

•         Meeting arrangements and preparations – invitations, follow-up of attendees, facility arrangements

•         Provide link between project management team and accounting department to issue and collect payments

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience with electrical systems
  • Hands on hardware and software experience

  • Basic programming skills/aptitude
  • Plant Control system design, analysis, optimization and implementation
  • Ability and desire to take on many roles including
    • Electrical design

    • Hardware and software troubleshooting and testing
    • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation or presentations

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering field and a minimum of one (1) year of industry experience, or
  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field and a minimum of five (5) years of industry experience in engineering
  • Experience with Visual basic, C++.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access
  • Experience with blowers, variable frequency drives, industrial motors, etc.
  • Experience with sensors, pneumatic controls, and PLCs
  • Comfortable using tools and electric equipment (i.e., multimeter, general hand tools, soldering iron, etc.) to perform assembly, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial plant systems and software
  • Autodesk AutoCad or equivalent experience
  • Basic circuit/PCB design

  • Course work or experience in business or sales is a plus
  • Ability to use MS Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, and Access required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform a variety of technical coordination with local and international laboratories
  • Travel to field sites to speak with clients and gather biological samples
  • Perform plant biological startup and performance optimization
  • Create spreadsheets or databases for lab results, financial models, plant parameters, etc.
  • Develop potential leads into viable projects by following up with interested clients and providing information about biogas technology, carbon offsets, renewable energy grants, etc.
  • Complete feasibility studies and project snapshots for clients
  • Research the market, competitors and their projects, feedstock sources, and possible projects to pursue
  • Compile responses to RFP’s, RFI’s, etc.
  • Write papers/articles on biogas technology or other approved subjects
  • Represent the company at tradeshows and conferences

BIOFermTM Energy Systems continuously accepting applications full-time Programmer to program instrumentation and controls software for BIOFermTM renewable energy facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Firmware design and planning of all systems in our biogas plants
  • Programming of instrumentation, controls, and all related systems
  • Development of start-up and commissioning strategy, along with vendor selection for all hardware and software
  • Development and programming of SCADA systems
  • Development of user interface and troubleshooting of all plant control systems

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering; or professional training as a software programmer
  • Specialization in PLC technology is desired
  • 3-5 years of experience in this field or in a comparable position
  • Well-versed in the relevant technological environment (automation technology, visualization, bus systems, drive and control engineering)
  • Siemens Simatic S7 experience is desired
  • Experience working with SCADA systems (Simatic WinCC V6.x and above, Simatic WinCC Flexible) is desired
  • Knowledge of SQL databases
  • Knowledge of Windows servers and PC’s is a plus
  • Knowledge of C++ and Ansi C is a plus
  • Ability to work independently

The project manager would be responsible for managing and facilitating the completion of all aspects of the design and construction process for the project.

  • Ten years of industry experience
  • Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar projects

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards
  • Develop project budgets and schedules, and manage the project to stay on-time and within-budget

  • Review deliverables for project
  • Supervise engineers, construction managers, and contractors

BIOFermTM is seeking a full-time entry level engineer, engineering coop or intern to assist and support engineers with the design, project documentation, process creation and onsite activities for BIOFermTM renewable energy facilities. Due to the startup, small business nature of the company, this position may have the opportunity to move into or create a permanent, full time engineering position within the team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing; clear and concise verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to comprehend  and revise CAD models of construction plans, system designs and components
  • Create project documentation, compile datasheets and edit user manuals
  • Develop design practices and standards
  • Perform component and supplier research
  • Create, coordinate and manage project information, schedules and budgets with external engineering resources
  • Understanding of and desire to work with mechanical, electrical, and construction systems
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation or presentations

Required Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, or applied science with a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00
  • Coop / Intern applicants
  1. Must be enrolled in an approved four year related curriculum and if applicable a formalized coop program at an accredited university
  2. Have completed at least 45 hours of undergraduate credits toward their degree
  3. Must have cleared their school schedule so they will be available to work full-time hours (40 hours per week) through the entire co-op/ intern term or terms approved by the Company and the University.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or construction aptitude and creative ability; self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2010 or equivalent
