Electrical Engineer/Software Engineer

BIOFermTM is seeking a Electrical Engineer/Software Engineer to design, implement, and troubleshoot electrical systems and software in BIOFermTM renewable energy facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, optimize, implement and troubleshoot plant control system of biogas plants
  • Design and optimize electrical systems for biogas plants
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation or presentations
  • Solicit and review bids, and purchase electrical and controls equipment for projects.
  • Oversee and evaluate work performed by subcontractors to ensure compliance with engineering drawings

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering field and a minimum of one (1) year of industry experience, or
  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field and a minimum of five (5) years of industry experience in engineering
  • Intermediate programming skills/aptitude
  • Experience with Visual basic, C++.
  • Microcontroller programming experience with Siemens SIMATIC or Rockwell MICROLOGIX is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access
  • Experience with blowers, variable frequency drives, industrial motors, etc.
  • Experience with sensors, pneumatic controls, and PLCs
  • Hands-on experience with electric equipment and tools to perform assembly, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial plant systems and software
  • Autodesk AutoCad or equivalent experience
  • Basic circuit/PCB design
  • Self-starter, results oriented, and able to multi-task
  • Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills
  • German language a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally

Business Development Manager

BIOFermTM is seeking a Business Development Manager to direct, manage and grow the sales and application engineering department of the company.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct a company’s business development program.
  • Assign sales territories, set goals, and establish training programs for sales representatives
  • Provide leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability
  • Establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses.
  • Assists Application Engineers in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) in business, marketing and sales or related field of study
  • 5+ years experience in business development
  • Must be able to demonstrate a record of selling multi-million dollar projects to C level executives
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and nurture client relationships projects with long implementation times (2-3 years)
  • Experience in a technical field is a plus
  • Ability to self-motivate and multi-task and work independently or within a team

Title: Biologist/Application Engineer

  • Perform a variety of technical coordination with local and international laboratories

  • Develop potential leads into viable projects by following up with interested clients and providing information about biogas technology, carbon offsets, renewable energy grants, etc.
  • Complete feasibility studies and project snapshots for clients

  • Compile responses to RFP’s, RFI’s, etc.
  • Write papers/articles on biogas technology or other approved subjects
  • Represent the company at tradeshows and conferences

Title: Programmer

BIOFermTM Energy Systems is continuously accepting applications for full-time Programmers to program instrumentation and controls software for BIOFermTM renewable energy facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Firmware design and planning of all systems in our biogas plants
  • Programming of instrumentation, controls, and all related systems
  • Development of start-up and commissioning strategy, along with vendor selection for all hardware and software
  • Development and programming of SCADA systems
  • Development of user interface and troubleshooting of all plant control systems

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering; or professional training as a software programmer
  • Specialization in PLC technology is desired
  • 3-5 years of experience in this field or in a comparable position
  • Well-versed in the relevant technological environment (automation technology, visualization, bus systems, drive and control engineering)
  • Siemens Simatic S7 experience is desired
  • Experience working with SCADA systems (Simatic WinCC V6.x and above, Simatic WinCC Flexible) is desired
  • Knowledge of SQL databases
  • Knowledge of Windows servers and PC’s is a plus

Title: Project Manager

The project manager would be responsible for managing and facilitating the completion of all aspects of the design and construction process for the project.

  • Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar projects

Title: Entry level Engineer, Engineering Coop or Intern

BIOFermTM is seeking a full-time entry level engineer, engineering coop or intern to assist and support engineers with the design, project documentation, process creation and onsite activities for BIOFermTM renewable energy facilities. Due to the startup, small business nature of the company, this position may have the opportunity to move into or create a permanent, full time engineering position within the team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing; clear and concise verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to comprehend  and revise CAD models of construction plans, system designs and components
  • Create project documentation, compile datasheets and edit user manuals
  • Develop design practices and standards
  • Perform component and supplier research
  • Create, coordinate and manage project information, schedules and budgets with external engineering resources
  • Understanding of and desire to work with mechanical, electrical, and construction systems
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation or presentations

Required Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, or applied science with a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00
  • Coop / Intern applicants
  1. Must be enrolled in an approved four year related curriculum and if applicable a formalized coop program at an accredited university
  2. Have completed at least 45 hours of undergraduate credits toward their degree
  3. Must have cleared their school schedule so they will be available to work full-time hours (40 hours per week) through the entire co-op/ intern term or terms approved by the Company and the University.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design concrete and steel structures for BIOFerm plants according to US standards
  • Implement changes to building design to save costs and construction time, while still maintaining quality
  • Work with external engineering firms and/or internal engineering team to create construction drawings, obtain building permits, prepare bid documents, and administer bidding process
  • Specify material quantities for projects, including concrete, wood, masonry, and steel
  • Compile and review construction contracts, scopes of supply, and proposals
  • Communicate with German engineers on building design standards; adapt existing German design specifications to US standards, and solve engineering problems
  • Perform site assessments for possible clients
  • Improve building design safety features
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality of work
