UN Climate Discussion Turns to Global Renewable Energy Standard

- December 7th, 2010

As international delegates continue to gather in Cancun, Mexico for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, the topic of a global renewable energy standard (G-RES) is being discussed.  A proposal was made last Friday by the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE).  The G-RES would call for nations to source 25% of their energy from renewable sources by 2025.  As European Renewable Energy Council President Arthorous Zervos stated, “it is high-time to deliver a concrete outcome of the UN climate talks, the agreement on a global renewable energy target would send a signal of hope to the world.”  To read more from the Clean Technica article, please click here.
