The City of Madison is kicking off a pilot collection program for organic waste from select households who volunteered on the east and west side of town. The goal of the program is to determine the viability of a third stream collection which could potentially be used for composting and/or anaerobic digestion. City recycling coordinator George Dreckmann explains “we will use the pilot program to see how our customers react to separating their organics and having a third cart.” It is great to see this program beginning in our home city. We will be following their progress and wish them much success! Click here to read the original madison.com article.
