Hotels Save Some Green by Going Green

Hotels Save Some Green by Going Green

- November 18th, 2010

BioCycle magazine published an article about the Hyatt Regency Princeton’s recently implemented organics diversion program.  By diverting food scraps from their waste stream, they were able to save over $10,000 in 2009.  Over 130 tons of food waste were collected and composted in the same year.  Hotels and convention centers are great resources for food waste diversion, and it is great to see programs such as the Hyatt’s being implemented.  As these programs grow throughout the country, the diverted organics could be used for anaerobic digestion to produce biogas as well as composting.
