EU Consistently Surpassing its Renewables Goals

EU Consistently Surpassing its Renewables Goals

- September 30th, 2010

Renewable energy production in the European Union has grown far more quickly than was anticipated, and goals set for 2010 have already been passed. If renewables continue to grow at the same pace, the goals for 2020 will be beaten as well. According to an article in RenewableEnergyWorld.com, “EU objectives for this year set out in a 1997 white paper have consistently been overhauled, with 16 GW of PV over target by five times, 1 GW of geothermal heat by three times, and 75 GW of wind by 80%.” This is great news for the renewable energy community in the EU, and for the world as a whole. Hopefully we can all contribute to renewable energy efforts so the U.S. can follow in the footsteps of the EU.
