A Kilowatt Saved…

A Kilowatt Saved…

- July 7th, 2011

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell recently signed legislation for various measures to spur the development of renewable energy in the state.  While none of the legislation seems to be directly related to biogas, there are some measures on net metering and renewable energy facility siting that could be pertinent to the AD industry.  Albert Pollard, a sponsor of one of the bills, quipped “a penny saved is a penny earned, and a kilowatt saved – or generated at home – is a kilowatt we don’t need to buy from the global markets.  Hopefully, this bill is a small step to help spur localities to invest in the future, through grants, loans and credit enhancements.”  It is encouraging to see multiple states adopting policies to promote and encourage the growth of homegrown sustainable energy.  To see the press release regarding the new legislation in Virginia, follow this link.
